John McNeill

John McNeill has been a member of the Percussion section of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra since 1971. Well-known as a percussion teacher and performing musician, John is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music (BM, MA), where he studied with John Beck, and the Wesleyan University World Music Program. With the RPO, he has performed with such conductors and artists as Aaron Copland, David Zinman, Arthur Fiedler, Henry Mancini, Doc Severinsen, Dizzy Gillespie, Canadian Brass and the Moody Blues. He has recently retired from the faculty of Roberts Wesleyan College after 38 years of teaching. John is one of the founding members of the RPO Marimba Band and has been with the group since 1979.
