Kristen Shiner McGuire

Kristen Shiner McGuire is an Assistant Professor in Performance Practice and Coordinator of Percussion Studies at Nazareth College, where she has taught since 1984. She is the recipient of the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award. The Nazareth College Percussion Ensemble is one of Rochester's most celebrated percussion groups.

Kristen is known internationally as a multifaceted performer, clinician and composer. Her compositions have become standard literature.

Kristen is a member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and RPO Marimba Band. She has performed in New Orleans, Ocho Rios, and XIRJ Festivals. Her recordings include those with the Maelstrom Percussion Ensemble, the RPO, and on her own album, Kristen Sings and Plays and Rings.

Kristen has served on the Board of Directors for PAS, as Secretary for the Executive Council, and as New York Chapter President. She has published articles in Percussive Notes, The Instrumentalist, and School Music News and is the Percussion Ensemble Editor for the NYSSMA Manual.
